Clinton County Cowgirls
Equine Fever has a drill team. An equine Drill team performs patterns to music on horseback. We started one 5 years ago when some of our members saw a drill team at the Iowa State fairs; they decided to start a drill team. The first year there were only 6 members on the team, but now there are 22 and it's still growing! This caused us to need to split the team. Now we have a junior and senior team. Members in 9th grade and up move up to the senior team. We have also had two flag teams that go in before and after the other two performances. To participate in our drill team you must be a member of Equine Fever and be able to walk, trot, and lope on your own horse.
We have practices starting in May every week until county fair. This gives us 6 or 8 practices with horses and 2 on foot. The on foot practices allow us to decide on our music, outfit, and pattern. It keeps practices with horse less chaotic. Drill team teaches you sportsmanship, teamwork, and responsibility. It can be a very fun experience, but you must be able to get to the practices if you join. You can only miss two practices or you are dropped from the team. The schedule can be found under events. Practices are the same days as workouts. You can see our performance from two years ago here:
